]]>Hotel de la Paix Sewing Center was established in 2007 as a joint venture between the Hotel and the monks at Life & Hope Association (LHA) at Wat Damnak. Each year, 20 disadvantaged women are selected to take a 10 month seamstress course, giving them the skills and means to support themselves. The students range in age from 16 to 22. Most of them come from rural communities where opportunities to receive an education, training or employment are lacking. Upon graduation from the program, each student is provided with a sewing machine and start-up kit materials. Then they may return to their village and start their own businesses, with a bright future, able to support themselves and their families.
