All the Way from Nepal

Not too long ago, we asked for post ideas from our wonderful partners and lodgings. This one, from Tiger Mountain Pokhara Lodge is one of the responses. We had to share!

Tiger Mountain Pokhara Lodge is honoured to be the first organisation in Nepal to work with Pack for a Purpose. It is such a simple and effective concept. Travellers have provided much needed supplies to students at Amar Jyoti School in the village. This school operates from nursery through to upper secondary level (up to Class 10 / School Leaving Certificate). As a small government school serving a diverse community, it is dynamic and has strong leadership from its Guardian’s Committee and Parent / Teacher Groups. Tiger Mountain Pokhara Lodge has an ongoing programme of support for the school that, apart from Pack for a Purpose, includes special volunteers recruited by People & Places, the award-winning responsible volunteering agency who mentor the teachers to enhance English language and teaching skills. We are also funding a capital programme to enhance the school’s infrastructure – carrying on where government and local community funding cannot reach. So this ensures the school has much all-round support – from Pack for Purpose donors to the pupils; from volunteers to the teachers and from financial donors to the school building development programme. We all share a common vision to enhance the school to make it one of the best of its kind in Nepal.
