Children, Caring and Community

Our blog post this month comes from a wonderful traveler that we have recently been in touch with, Tara Cannon.

I am a mother of two, passionate family traveler, and founder of Pint Size Pilot — a website dedicated to taking the fear out of travel with kids. When I read about Pack for a Purpose, I immediately knew that this was the organization I had been looking for. My children were approaching school age and I had been searching for an effective way to teach them more about the communities we were visiting on our travels. PfaP’s mandate of Small Space – Little Effort – Big Impact seemed like a great way for us to make a meaningful local contribution.

We decided to put the organization to the test on a recent trip to the Fairmont Mayakoba in the Mayan Riviera. It could not have been easier due to the thoughtful design of the PfaP website. In a few clicks we had located a project in Mexico that needed our support, had a list of requested items, and knew exactly where to drop them off. We turned it into a fun little family project with each child contributing some of their allowance money and choosing their own supplies. My youngest even collected some donations through her birthday party to put toward the project.

We were very happy with how easy PfaP made it for us to participate and can’t wait to do it again on our next trip.
