PfaP Provides Joy in Johannesburg

The Peech is delighted to support the Pack for a Purpose initiative. Over the years more and more of our guests have taken an interest in this initiative, and we have seen a wonderful growth in donations. This reflects what we believe is an increasing interest by travellers to leave something positive behind in the countries they visit, beyond just their tourist dollars spent.

At The Peech Hotel we deliver Pack for a Purpose supplies on to Little Eden, the charity that we as an organisation have chosen to support. Based about 25 minutes from the hotel, Little Eden cares for people with profound intellectual disability – those who are classified as uneducable – of all races and creeds. Priority is given to those who have been abandoned or abused or to those who come from severely disadvantaged backgrounds. The organisation cares for around a hundred patients in its two facilities in Johannesburg.

Our guests hear about the charity’s needs through Pack for a Purpose and have been generous enough to bring clothing, linen and other small supplies. They often bring a whole extra suitcase with them, which enables a significant quantity of supplies to be given over. Since we joined Pack for a Purpose, 107 kilos of supplies have been brought to The Peech Hotel by Pack for a Purpose participants.

Having been involved since 2008, we know the work Little Eden does is invaluable and that 100% of the support we give and get is put to the benefit of the children. We enormously appreciate the added interest that Pack for a Purpose has brought to Little Eden.
