The Friends of Vamizi Trust (FoVT) was established in 2012 as the charitable arm of Vamizi Island Mozambique, the marine conservation and ecotourism project. As part of the project, a primary school was built, where about 250 children from ages 6 through 15 years old have the chance to study. The project recognizes the importance of education, and has been supporting the school since its establishment.
We support the school with the necessary supplies to cook two meals a day, guaranteeing the children are well nourished. These meals give them an extra incentive to go to school. We have a wildlife club, where our conservation project meets every week with the students which engages them in conservation, involves them in ongoing projects. The club helps raise eco-conscious adults.

Candy and balloons are not on the needs list as they are harmful for the children and the environment for the following reasons:
• Few of the children benefiting from these projects have access to toothpaste, toothbrushes, or a dentist. The candy promotes cavities.
• The balloons once they become deflated are a choking hazard for local wildlife.
Instead of taking candy or balloons, use that space for additional requested supplies, as they are priceless.
