Facts about Barbados

Barbados, located in the Lower Antilles of the Caribbean, offers stunning beaches and booming towns full of trendy hotels and restaurants. The capital, Bridgetown, is worth a visit, and the scenery of Central Barbados’s rolling limestone hills is not to be missed. Visitors can take a walk through history by visiting some of the plantation homes from the island’s colonial era, or head to one of the serene botanical gardens.

Beyond the beaches and tourist areas of Barbados, international travelers who are interested in responsible tourism can take up alternative activities by volunteering for ocean conservation organizations or donating medical or school supplies to the children in need. Voluntourism is an excellent way to get the know the locals and see their welcoming island culture.
