Reality Gives is based in one of Asia’s largest slums, Dharavi, Mumbai. The organisation specializes in education and teacher training and has three community centers, where they provide classes in English language, computing and life skills for underprivileged children from the area. They supplement this core education program with activities ranging from girls’ football to art, dance and drama so as to allow the youth the opportunity to play, learn and create.
Reality Gives also partners with a local primary school, Royal City School, to improve the educational opportunities for local children. By training and empowering women from the local communities to work as teachers, we deliver quality, English-medium education to 381 children (which will rise by to cover almost 500 children in the next school year).

Candy and balloons are not on the needs list as they are harmful for the children and the environment for the following reasons:
• Few of the children benefiting from these projects have access to toothpaste, toothbrushes, or a dentist. The candy promotes cavities.
• The balloons once they become deflated are a choking hazard for local wildlife.
Instead of taking candy or balloons, use that space for additional requested supplies, as they are priceless.
