Project #1

Sangkheum Center for Children cares for over 100 children from ages 2 through 18 years old. Sangkheum means 'hope' in Khmer.

Since 2001, the Sangkheum Center for Children has been providing hope, education, training, scholastic support, and care for disadvantaged children and youth in Cambodia. They strive to provide a brighter future for orphaned, abused, and neglected children who would otherwise be at risk of turning to a life on the streets.

The center was established as a co-operation between the Italian NGO Progetto Continent and the Cambodian NGO - Khmer Angkor Development Organization.

Our organization implements the Village Development Partnership Project (VDP) in selected villages in the Soutr Nikom district of the Siem Reap province. The VDP is a village-based empowerment program focusing on five key areas: village institutional development, capacity building for income generation, health, environmental conservation, and education development.

PDI-Cambodia launched a second program in 2012 called the Social Enterprise Development Program (SED), a training and support program for Siem Reap-based NGOs and individual entrepreneurs to set up and run successful social enterprises.
