    Fairmont Mayakoba

    Project #1

Playa Animal Rescue is dedicated to rescuing and rehabilitating injured and abandoned dogs, and ultimately finding them permanent, loving homes. Unfortunately, strays are easily seen in all streets of Mexico. Their clinic is in the process of being built, and they need help finishing it. Aside from rescuing strays, Playa Animal Rescue’s dream is to build a low cost clinic for the pets of local people who have fewer resources, hence promoting health for the locals.

    Project #2

The community of Vida y Esperanza has a small school which caters for 50 low-income students from the ages of 4 through 14 years old. Thanks to donations from organizations, the Fairmont Mayakoba is able to help these children receive an education. The school is located on Playa del Carmen Quintana Roo, in the municipality of Solidarity.

    Project #3

Animal Action is an association created more than nine years ago that is dedicated to rehabilitating dogs and cats for extreme abuse. They are then given up for adoption. Over 3000 dogs and cats have been placed in responsible homes over the years. This low-cost veterinary consultation project helps the association and the community, benefits more than 80 shelter dogs, and helps more than 400 low-income community dogs that are tended to with professionalism. We are located in Playa del Carmen (Solidaridad) at Av 100 corner Calle 10 in El Ejido.

    Project #4

The Aitana Foundation supports children with cancer and their family during treatment.
The support includes a place of recreation, fun and integration, where regular school classes and recreational activities are offered. In addition, we have a hostel where patients can stay when they go to Cancun to receive treatments.

Listed on this page are the specific needs requested by the community project(s) so you can choose exactly what to pack for a purpose and express your gratitude to the local community with the supplies you take them. If you prefer, you may reach out directly to them to inquire about items which may be available for purchase locally. Arranging visits to community projects is beyond the scope of our mission. If you wish to visit a project, contact the participant and they can let you know what is possible.

Candy and balloons are not on the needs list as they are harmful for the children and the environment for the following reasons:
    • Few of the children benefiting from these projects have access to toothpaste, toothbrushes, or a dentist. The candy promotes cavities.
    • The balloons once they become deflated are a choking hazard for local wildlife.

Instead of taking candy or balloons, use that space for additional requested supplies, as they are priceless.
