    Project #1

Masiphumelele is a township approximately 40 kilometers south of Cape Town. There are about 40,000 people living in a densely crowded area. People are poor, mostly unemployed and uneducated. Ukhanyo Primary School was originally built for 450 pupils and is now accommodating all 1,600 of the township’s children from the ages of 6 through 14. The school is in need of good teachers and equipment.

The items requested in the needs list will improve the training and quality of teachers and ease the need of school equipment. These supplies will also benefit additional education projects in Masiphumele including the library outreach programs.

    Project #2

The state school Monde Primary School is located in the rural area of Monde, about 14 km from Victoria Falls town (Zimbabwe). The school has 10 teachers and serves around 300 students from ages 7 through 13 years old (Kindergarten to Grade 7). 300 students have to share only four classrooms and the teachers live in 2 tiny houses on the premises.

The school recently benefited from a solar system and borehole which is greatly assisting the school and the surrounding community since. The local widows and women now use the school staff room as venue for a sewing project making handbags as well as school uniforms. Apart from this the school has so many needs from stationary, toys, books, sports equipment and much more.

Note: Location is approximated. If you see a lodging that is misplaced or missing, please contact us .

Listed on this page are the specific needs requested by the community project(s) so you can choose exactly what to pack for a purpose and express your gratitude to the local community with the supplies you take them. If you prefer, you may reach out directly to them to inquire about items which may be available for purchase locally. Arranging visits to community projects is beyond the scope of our mission. If you wish to visit a project, contact the participant and they can let you know what is possible.

Candy and balloons are not on the needs list as they are harmful for the children and the environment for the following reasons:
    • Few of the children benefiting from these projects have access to toothpaste, toothbrushes, or a dentist. The candy promotes cavities.
    • The balloons once they become deflated are a choking hazard for local wildlife.

Instead of taking candy or balloons, use that space for additional requested supplies, as they are priceless.
