The BIG FIX Guest House

Project #1

The BIG FIX Uganda has programs in veterinary service, animal welfare education, and animal assisted interventions. We run the only veterinary hospital in Northern Uganda and provide services in the villages including rabies vaccination, de-worming, spay/neuter, and treatment of wounds and injuries. To date, we have treated more than 60,000 animals. We operate The Comfort Dog Project, which pairs war trauma survivors suffering from PTSD with companion dogs, a program which has demonstrated efficacy in reducing PTSD symptom severity.

Our school outreach involves taking our training team to primary schools and providing education about animal health and welfare, the importance of good human-animal bonds, and the prohibition against animal cruelty. Tree planting and rubbish pick up are also emphasized.

All the needs are current as of November 13, 2018

Listed on this page are the specific needs requested by the community project(s) so you can choose exactly what to pack for a purpose and express your gratitude to the local community with the supplies you take them.

Candy and balloons are not on the needs list as they are harmful for the children and the environment for the following reasons:
• Few of the children benefiting from these projects have access to toothpaste, toothbrushes, or a dentist. The candy promotes cavities.
• The balloons once they become deflated are a choking hazard for local wildlife.

Instead of taking candy or balloons, use that space for additional requested supplies, as they are priceless.
