Banyan Tree Mayakoba

At Banyan Tree, we understand that having healthy children and adolescents is fundamental to being a healthy and sustainable society. These children have the right to education and play, which is why we support vulnerable populations in places where our hotels are located. Some of these places include community schools, rural populations, and temporary shelters. Two examples of success are the community school Vida y Esperanza, located near Playa del Carmen, and The Vulnerable Groups Unit of the municipal DIF, spaces in which there are children and young people who want to finish their basic studies and aspire to a better future. These children just need a little push. You can help them!

Initiatives Supported

All the needs are current as of September 19, 2019

Listed on this page are the specific needs requested by the community project(s) so you can choose exactly what to pack for a purpose and express your gratitude to the local community with the supplies you take them.

Candy and balloons are not on the needs list as they are harmful for the children and the environment for the following reasons:
• Few of the children benefiting from these projects have access to toothpaste, toothbrushes, or a dentist. The candy promotes cavities.
• The balloons once they become deflated are a choking hazard for local wildlife.

Instead of taking candy or balloons, use that space for additional requested supplies, as they are priceless.
