Project #1

We collect donated backpacks and school supplies from our guests and distribute them to the children who attend the schools in the surrounding areas of Maya Centre, Sittee River and of course Hopkins Village. The only school in Hopkins Village itself is called Holy Family Hopkins School and has around 300 children from the ages of 3 to 12 years old.

Throughout the year we are able to ensure that the school supplies that we collect are given to the children who are particularly in need of them and we also donate supplies to both the Kite Festival and Hopkins Day Fair throughout the year. In August 2013 we held a Green Team 'Back to School' Kids Fest where all the donations we had collected were given out during a fun afternoon of games, including sack, 3-legged, marble & spoon races and craft sessions for making eco-friendly mosquito traps. We were able to ensure that, all of the children that attended the Fest, received school supplies.

We also collect children's books that we donate to Miss Bertie's Hopkins Community Library that is also situated in Hopkins Village.
