Description & Requirements for an Internship at Pack for a Purpose

Interns at Pack for a Purpose, a 501(c)(3) global nonprofit organization, should be proficient communicators and collaborative thinkers, as well as be open to learning new skills. They must be familiar with Microsoft Office and Photoshop (although they can learn this skill once they start their Internship). They will be required to show initiative, have good writing skills, and excellent organizational skills.

Interns will upload information to the content management system (WordPress) and contribute to maintaining and updating various aspects of the website. They will upload new accommodations or tour companies to the website, as well as write or edit articles or blog posts for publication on the website. They will utilize Photoshop to edit photos for use across the organization’s website.

Interns at Pack for a Purpose are also involved with social media and publishing content on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Pinterest. They will conduct research as necessary to promote Pack for a Purpose across social media. Interns also correspond with travelers and Pack for a Purpose participants via email. Interns at Pack for a Purpose are valued members of our team, and their ideas and suggestions are welcome and encouraged.

Requirements:

3.4 GPA in their major

Self-starter who can meet deadlines

Good organizational skills

Good interpersonal communication skills

Writing and editing experience for blogs and promotional articles

Comfort level with Microsoft Office

8-10 hours per week (hours flexible)

Preferred:

Familiarity with an online content management system

Some experience using Photoshop CS5

Familiarity with a relational database
