The Foundation Ard el Amal (Land of Hope) offers children and young adults with intellectual and/or physical disabilities a value educational daycare. In Egypt, it is often the harsh reality that those with disabilities do not have school, work, or optimal development opportunities.
The first Syndrome of Down Center of southern Egypt is also located at the site of Ard el Amal. They train parents on how they can support their child at home. The follow-up appointments at Ard el Amal ensure continuity in the supervision of the children and their parents. The main goal is to stimulate the development of these children and get the parents trained.

Animal Care in Egypt is a charity dedicated to helping stop the suffering of thousands of animals in the poorest communities of Luxor by providing free veterinary care and education.
For almost twenty years they have been here to help the local animals when they need it most. This is alongside preventative treatments and education, delivering a long term impact on the welfare of working animals and the people that depend on them so greatly for their livelihoods. These hard working animals often lack the most basic veterinary care. Many are neglected or mistreated, not through malice, but due to lack of understanding or provisions.

Listed on this page are the specific needs requested by the community project(s) so you can choose exactly what to pack for a purpose and express your gratitude to the local community with the supplies you take them. If you prefer, you may reach out directly to them to inquire about items which may be available for purchase locally. Arranging visits to community projects is beyond the scope of our mission. If you wish to visit a project, contact the participant and they can let you know what is possible.
Candy and balloons are not on the needs list as they are harmful for the children and the environment for the following reasons:
• Few of the children benefiting from these projects have access to toothpaste, toothbrushes, or a dentist. The candy promotes cavities.
• The balloons once they become deflated are a choking hazard for local wildlife.
Instead of taking candy or balloons, use that space for additional requested supplies, as they are priceless.
