The Bonguile project supports preschools in Vilankulo, in particular Quinto Congresso, a community-run preschool just 6 kilometers away from the hotel that offers “learn-through-play” lessons to around 70 three to five year olds. The Mozambican government provides education starting with Primary school. It does not offer any funding for preschools.
We make it a priority to keep community preschools going because we believe in early childhood development. Children at this age are in a critical phase for cognitive, physical and psycho-social development that has repercussions for an individual even into adulthood. It is our pleasure to link the children of Quinto Congresso and other preschools with support and visitors from around the world.

Candy and balloons are not on the needs list as they are harmful for the children and the environment for the following reasons:
• Few of the children benefiting from these projects have access to toothpaste, toothbrushes, or a dentist. The candy promotes cavities.
• The balloons once they become deflated are a choking hazard for local wildlife.
Instead of taking candy or balloons, use that space for additional requested supplies, as they are priceless.
