Chigamane Primary School is a government school issued with a budget at the start of the school year. This budget is usually too little to cover all the needs of the students, teachers, building maintenance and other expenses.
The primary school has just over 500 students from ages 6 through 12 years old. Due to the large amount of children, they are split into 2 groups and taught over two separate periods by 14 caring and passionate teachers. The children that attend Chigamane Primary School are from the local community of subsistence fishing and farming families.

Candy and balloons are not on the needs list as they are harmful for the children and the environment for the following reasons:
• Few of the children benefiting from these projects have access to toothpaste, toothbrushes, or a dentist. The candy promotes cavities.
• The balloons once they become deflated are a choking hazard for local wildlife.
Instead of taking candy or balloons, use that space for additional requested supplies, as they are priceless.
