Jim’s Story

For the past year, I had been planning a trip to Tanzania to climb Mount Kilimanjaro. I’m
a physician and one of my patients asked if I had heard of Pack for a Purpose. At the
time, I did not know my patient was the founder of this wonderful non-profit organization. After hearing her story and looking over the website, I thought what a simple and
effective way to directly effect the lives of children in the community of your travels.
Prior to the trip, I was able to get supplies that the children needed for the Stella Maris
orphanage/school.

We literally drove directly past the orphanage and sponsoring hotel on our way to our
hotel. At the Stella Maris hotel, I met Teddi, who told me that supplies donated and
profits from the hotel went to providing for the children at the orphanage.

I can’t imagine traveling out of the country in the future without going to the Pack for a
Purpose website to find out what I can bring to help out the locals.
