The Sweeny Family’s Story

Our family goes to the beautiful island of Turks and Caicos every year in March.  We always drive past a school, and see the students in their uniforms.  At the resort, we also remember seeing how the Sandals Foundation helps students and families on the island go to school, and eventually get jobs. It stood out as a wonderful program of giving back to the people on the island.

Unfortunately with COVID restrictions this year we didn’t travel to the island.  We knew so many families from Turks would be struggling and not be able to work because the resort was closed for a while. For our Confirmation project we did a school supply drive for the students on the island.  We promoted the Pack for Purpose program at our school and church.

We were thrilled with the response from our friends.  We shipped boxes filled with pencils, crayons, paper, folders and notebooks to the students on the island.

It was fun packing everything up for them and wished we could have delivered the supplies in person.
