Little Sable
Project #1
Khwai pre-school is located in the remote Khwai Village to the east of the Khwai Reserve (and south west of the Chobe National Park). The school serves 40 children from ages 4 through 6 years old. This pre-school ensures that education is both prioritized and assured, during the important formative years in an environment with limited formal education.
Project #2
This is an anti-poaching initiative in the Khwai Private Reserve. They undertake concession patrols, anti-snaring and important anti-poaching work. Any assistance will greatly benefit the work they do.
Project #3
The Wild Shots initiative engages with ten unemployed youth from disadvantaged communities, teaching them about conservation and nature through photography. This culminates in a game drive at our concession. Every year they will be running workshops at our camp. We are looking for camera equipment so that they have the means to pursue photography as a career. Some ideas we have are for Wild Shots graduates to post photos in our lodge and sell them to guests (with the proceeds going to the photographer), hire graduates to photograph guest experience and charge a daily fee, and hire graduates to document some of our conservation and community work.

Listed on this page are the specific needs requested by the community project(s) so you can choose exactly what to pack for a purpose and express your gratitude to the local community with the supplies you take them. If you prefer, you may reach out directly to them to inquire about items which may be available for purchase locally. Arranging visits to community projects is beyond the scope of our mission. If you wish to visit a project, contact the participant and they can let you know what is possible.
Candy and balloons are not on the needs list as they are harmful for the children and the environment for the following reasons:
• Few of the children benefiting from these projects have access to toothpaste, toothbrushes, or a dentist. The candy promotes cavities.
• The balloons once they become deflated are a choking hazard for local wildlife.
Instead of taking candy or balloons, use that space for additional requested supplies, as they are priceless.
