Safari Destinations
Project #1
Sekgoma Primary is a school of 700 pupils from pre-school to senior school. Money is scarce and life is harsh with education providing a vital way out of the poverty cycle. Safari Destinations approached Sekgoma Primary as part of the government “Adopt a School” program with the desire to see how we could partner with the school to help bolster their educational efforts. Support last year included funding of their prize giving initiative to encourage students to work hard and support with their IT needs.
Our support will continue including helping the school with their library. For those travelling to Botswana and wanting to touch the lives of the people of this amazing country, books for the library would be most welcome as would any of the supplies from our needs list.
Project #2
Chisuma is a village 25km east of the majestic Victoria Falls with a population of about 2500 to 4000 villagers. Education in Chisuma Village is generally good with most people being able to read, write, and speak English. The school offers classes from grades 1 through 7 and benefits about 400 students from ages 6 through 13 years old. More recently, the school began offering a pre-school class.
Project #3
One of Gogo Olive’s main goals is to give ladies in the community the opportunity to earn a living wage. They also provide the ladies with training in budgeting skills. They use Savings Schemes to make their money go further each month. Zimbabwe has a particularly unpredictable financial situation and job employment is low so this is a great solution for the Gogo’s and their families who benefit.
Initiatives Supported

Listed on this page are the specific needs requested by the community project(s) so you can choose exactly what to pack for a purpose and express your gratitude to the local community with the supplies you take them. If you prefer, you may reach out directly to them to inquire about items which may be available for purchase locally. Arranging visits to community projects is beyond the scope of our mission. If you wish to visit a project, contact the participant and they can let you know what is possible.
Candy and balloons are not on the needs list as they are harmful for the children and the environment for the following reasons:
• Few of the children benefiting from these projects have access to toothpaste, toothbrushes, or a dentist. The candy promotes cavities.
• The balloons once they become deflated are a choking hazard for local wildlife.
Instead of taking candy or balloons, use that space for additional requested supplies, as they are priceless.
