    Accommodation

    Playa Linda Beach Resort

We have recently been informed by a PfaP traveler of the current situation in customs in Aruba. Please be sure adhere to the requirements when you Pack for a Purpose. Travelers MUST have receipts and the value of any donations brought in must be under $210 USD. If not, customs will make up a value, and you must pay the tax - in cash - or they will confiscate the donation.

    Project #1

The Animal Relief Foundation works to eliminate the street animal population through sterilization, adoption, and education.

    Project #2

The Casa Cuna Progreso project focuses on children who are in a difficult parenting situations, including a crisis situation in the family, educational or emotional neglect, abuse, and behavioral or emotional problems. Casa Cuna Progreso accommodates 36 children from infancy through 8 years old and offers care to children seven days a week from day to night. The project is situated in a child-friendly building with a variety of playgrounds surrounded by a spacious garden.

    Project #3

Aruba Soccer Academy consists of extremely committed and highly qualified professional coaches and 50 through 100 children. Besides teaching soccer, the coaches’ focus is to provide a social program for the development of children in need.

Last year ASA supplied a group of children in need with school items as their back to school campaign. In Aruba there are many families that cannot afford to pay a membership fee. ASA provides sponsorships for children in need to join and school break camps ASA. This helps kids stay off the streets and learn more about their skills and potential. ASA has had many charity programs throughout the years, including soccer cleats donation drive and fundraising for a local cancer foundation.

All the needs are current as of March 15, 2023
Note: Location is approximated. If you see a lodging that is misplaced or missing, please contact us .

Listed on this page are the specific needs requested by the community project(s) so you can choose exactly what to pack for a purpose and express your gratitude to the local community with the supplies you take them. If you prefer, you may reach out directly to them to inquire about items which may be available for purchase locally. Arranging visits to community projects is beyond the scope of our mission. If you wish to visit a project, contact the participant and they can let you know what is possible.

Candy and balloons are not on the needs list as they are harmful for the children and the environment for the following reasons:
    • Few of the children benefiting from these projects have access to toothpaste, toothbrushes, or a dentist. The candy promotes cavities.
    • The balloons once they become deflated are a choking hazard for local wildlife.

Instead of taking candy or balloons, use that space for additional requested supplies, as they are priceless.
