    Project #1

Futbol por mi Pais is a non-profit foundation focused on using soccer to engage, inspire and empower Costa Rican youth by providing tools and connections that drive change. Soccer is one of the world’s most popular sports and has proven to be an effective tool for youths in vulnerable communities. Our approach helps to shape agents of change who become productive members of society with values, decision making tools and life skills. Futbol por mi Pais organizes free life training for young adult ages 8-17, across Costa Rica making the methodology accessible to all.

    Project #2

NP Waterkeeper raises awareness within the community to the main threats of water quality, so that we all understand the impact of human actions in water. We look for, create, and offer information, tools, and solutions so that we can, all together as a community, reduce that impact and re-establish a healthier way to relate with nature. Thanks to our partner Bionic, we take care of all the recycling within Cóbano. With the project Beach Clean Up, we create a circular economy regarding tragic plastic. To create sustainable solutions and a huge positive impact to the environment and the community, we manage: Ocean Friendly Business, Water Quality Testing, Grease and Oil Collection Route and the Organics Route.

    Project #3

Wild Sun Rescue Center, located in Cabuya, Costa Rica, is dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, and release of local wildlife. They have a crucial mission, which includes reintroducing locally extinct species, treating sick, injured, and orphaned animals with the goal of releasing them back to the wild, and finding solutions to the threats that the local wildlife faces. Wild Sun also plays a significant role in promoting conservation and offers internships and veterinary externships to increase community engagement and global awareness of conservation in Costa Rica, one of the most important biodiversity hotspots on the planet.

Note: Location is approximated. If you see a lodging that is misplaced or missing, please contact us .

Listed on this page are the specific needs requested by the community project(s) so you can choose exactly what to pack for a purpose and express your gratitude to the local community with the supplies you take them. If you prefer, you may reach out directly to them to inquire about items which may be available for purchase locally. Arranging visits to community projects is beyond the scope of our mission. If you wish to visit a project, contact the participant and they can let you know what is possible.

Candy and balloons are not on the needs list as they are harmful for the children and the environment for the following reasons:
    • Few of the children benefiting from these projects have access to toothpaste, toothbrushes, or a dentist. The candy promotes cavities.
    • The balloons once they become deflated are a choking hazard for local wildlife.

Instead of taking candy or balloons, use that space for additional requested supplies, as they are priceless.
