This destination offers a pristine environment and intact cultures that truly make visitors feel as though they have stepped into a new world. Travelers enjoy a taste of the simply life in the villages and can indulge in a relaxing cultural immersion. Tourists packing for Laos can consider options to help a number of non-profit organizations working to better the communities of this country.

Travelers in Laos who are interested in responsible tourism and would like to help a community in need can donate to several education opportunities for children in the area. One project is currently working to create small libraries for a primary school and two secondary schools. This service project is accepting donated books ranging from children’s science and geography books to children’s and teenager’s storybooks in English. Voluntourists interested in giving to this project can also purchase books from a non-profit project, Big Brother Mouse, that is working to introduce literacy in Laos. Travelers can also give back to the community by helping children at the Ban Na Taer primary school and Dong Bang secondary school by donating school supplies.
