PfaP Supplies ROAR into Roatan

For several years now, The Sixthman out of Atlanta, Georgia has encouraged the guests on their cruises to Pack for a Purpose and make a Big Impact across the Caribbean. This year, the island of Roatan in Honduras was one of the stops on their Cayamo Cruise and once again they invited their guests to Pack for a Purpose. Bananarama Beach and Dive Resort, our Participant in Roatan supports two projects, and the list of their needed supplies was provided to the cruisers with the invitation to participate if they wished. The Generosity of the travelers was Ginormous!

Here is what Lindell Bodden, the manager of Bananarama Beach and Dive and Resort had to say about the Big Impact made by these cruisers.

After we were contacted by Rebecca at Pack for a Purpose and Lauraine at The Sixthman about having the guests on the Cayamo Cruise take supplies for the projects we support, we were all excited here on the Island of Roatan. We were looking forward to the day in February when the cruise ship Norwegian Jade would dock on the port of Roatan here in Coxen Hole with the Cayamo Cruise.

What a wonderful experience to see everyone coming off the ship and bringing their donations for Familia Saludable. The passengers were so excited that they thanked us over and over again. Some of the passengers were so overwhelmed that we were helping such a noble cause that they even made me cry. We are so grateful for all those passengers with kind hearts, who went out of their way to bring something to Roatan. We thank and bless each and every one that helped in this cause. It was such a wonderful sight to see everyone come down the plank with their packages.

Working with The Sixthman crew was a great pleasure. Sara and her crew organized everything with their passengers, and all was so well done it was easy for us. They went above and beyond with their support for us and the Familia Saludable. Thank you Sixthman!!!

When we arrived to drop off the donations to Familia Saludable, everyone was thrilled and surprised to see such a huge amount of supplies for their cause, which was a bit over three thousand pounds- incredible but true.

We also support Clinica Esperanza. Clinica Esperanza provides low-cost/no cost medical care to the people of Roatan. Patients can receive services from the walk-in medical clinic, women’s health center, and pediatrics inpatient hospital, adult and pediatric dental clinics with support from a laboratory and pharmacy. The clinic also provides outreach clinics and community health education programs. They help as much as they can in the community.

We have had other cruise ships arrive on the island and some of their passengers always stop by with more donations. They found the Bananarama Beach and Dive Resort needs list and the projects we support on the Pack for a Purpose website. Then they too brought suitcases, boxes, and bags full of the requested supplies from our needs list. However, this donation was the most incredible one we have received so far.

Every time we remember that day in February, we just smile and thank God for such wonderful people who made all this happen.
