Hotel Capitán Suizo Supports Schools

Years ago, Capitán Suizo decided to join Pack for a Purpose, a beautiful initiative that allows travelers like you to have a positive impact on the community of your travel destination. There we host a project to provide children from small rural schools around the community of Tamarindo with the supplies they need for the school year. To avoid children quitting school, due to the lack of their parent’s resources, our goal is to provide them with what they need to keep studying during the year.

Every year, for months we collect school supplies according to the children’s and teachers’ needs, such as books, notebooks, pens, colored pencils, pencils, rulers, erasers, and many more. Then we make an inventory with the collected items to donate to three nearby schools. The San Francisco School, the Ranchos School, and the Trapiche School.

The delivery day of the supplies is strategic; we organize it every February when the school year begins in Costa Rica. This way the children can start the year with the right motivation. Part of our team is in charge of receiving and storing the donations that guests bring and keeping in contact with the schools to organize everything.

Last January (2022), we had the opportunity to be joined by a couple of hotel guests along with the son who plays the violin. We organized a musical presentation where the son gave them a wonderful violin performance, school supplies were handed out with a kit for each child and a snack was organized. It was very gratifying for us to see the excitement with which each child opens his or her package, their little faces, and the gratitude they give us at the end.

Capitán Suizo is an environmentally conscious Four Star, Beachfront Boutique Hotel in Tamarindo. The hotel is set beneath native trees and nestled between rich, organically maintained gardens that are home to a wide variety of wildlife.

We also have implemented a social development policy structured based on affirmative actions, consisting of projects in which the hotel participates and promotes, to consolidate its efforts in favor of the community and minimize the sociocultural impact inherent to the development of tourism.

Since its foundation and over time, this hotel contributes to the development of the Tamarindo community and other nearby towns. Our mission is to stimulate its inhabitants’ social and economic development through activities, projects, or grants handled through organized groups, community organizations, or government institutions.
