Hi everyone! My name is Sarah Cam, I’m a senior at North Carolina State University majoring in sociology with a minor in Spanish. I love to read, work out, hike, bake, and take photos. I learned about Pack for a Purpose through an email from my department advisor and fell in love with this organization’s mission to give back to the places we visit.

During the summer of 2023 I was privileged to spend three months in Costa Rica taking Spanish courses. My time there taught me how important is to be more than just a tourist—to appreciate how the locals live and contribute something to the people who welcome us into their home countries. Unfortunately, I didn’t know about Pack for a Purpose at the time, but doing food outreach with Venezuelan refugees while there opened my eyes to the importance of helping others wherever I am. I plan to Pack for a Purpose wherever I visit from here on out and spread the word to fellow travelers!
