Facts about India
With a landscape ranging from snowy mountains to sunny beaches, it is no wonder that India is a popular travel destination. Every day, tourists, vacationers, and volunteers rush into this beautiful country to experience life among the more than one billion natives. This country offers a wide variety of cultural, spiritual, and adventurous experiences-gracing visitors with mountain, jungle and beach scenes, graceful architecture, and historical sites. Travelers packing for India who are interested in responsible tourism are also afforded the opportunity to give back to this beautiful country and its people on their trip abroad. There are many non-profits and service organizations that need donations and assistance.
One of the many service projects that voluntourists can help while visiting India is the Indo International School. This non-profit has been working to provide economically deprived children an education. Today this community project works with more than 500 students, ranging from nursery school to 11th grade. This non-profit project needs school supplies, including educational CDs about wildlife or science, story books, and reference books in English as well as more basic school supplies, such as pencils, small rulers, and erasers.
